Se dividen en distritos. En el Per\u00fa existen 196 provincias, agrupadas en 25 departamentos, a excepci\u00f3n de la Provincia de Lima que no pertenece a ninguna departamento. Esto hace un promedio de siete provincias por departamento. El departamento con menos provincias es Callao (una) y el departamento con m\u00e1s es Ancash (veinte).<\/p>\n<p>Si bien las provincias en la selva amaz\u00f3nica escasamente poblada del este de Per\u00fa tienden a ser m\u00e1s grandes, hay una gran concentraci\u00f3n de ellas en el \u00e1rea norte-central del pa\u00eds. La provincia con menos distritos es la provincia de Pur\u00fas, con un solo distrito. La provincia con m\u00e1s distritos es la Provincia de Lima, con 43 distritos. El n\u00famero m\u00e1s com\u00fan de distritos por provincia es ocho; un total de 29 provincias comparten este n\u00famero de distritos.<\/p>\n<p>El Per\u00fa en el 2017 ten\u00eda 196 provincias. La tabla subsiguiente incluye el nombre de las provincias, el departamento al que pertenece, su n\u00famero de ubigeo y poblaci\u00f3n total seg\u00fan los resultados del Censo Nacional
